Choosing A Color Scheme For Your Home

Color is a very personal choice. Choosing the palette that suits your home, style and personality can sometimes feel overwhelming. Here are some tips to help guide you to fill your home with color…

Use the color wheel to help plan your rooms. Complimentary colors are opposing colors on the color wheel, such a blue and orange, red and green or yellow and purple. You’ll want to use these colors for a bold, dramatic feel and a good choice for formal rooms like your dining room, living room or entryway. An analogous color scheme uses colors that appear next to each other on the wheel and create a soothing, relaxing feel. These color combos such as blue and green or orange and red are best used in more private, relaxed areas like the bedroom and bathrooms.

Be inspired by your artwork and your closet! As we said, color is a very personal choice and there is nothing more personal than the art you choose or the clothes you wear. Look for pops of color in your art work that you like and coordinate your accent pieces with those colors. Also, if you find that you look and feel your best wearing green, incorporate that into your rooms as well, you also want to look and feel your best in your home!

It’s a good idea to add a touch of black to every room, it helps add contrast without clashing. It can be as simple as adding a black lamp shade or as bold as a large furniture piece.

Most importantly, be true to yourself! You can make any color look good and people will appreciate your unique style.
